It is a sad fact but less than 90 percent of affiliates trying to make money online will earn less than 100 dollars per month. The main issue is that most people think that all they have to do is to sign up, place a few ads online, and the money will start rolling in. However, it really doesn’t work like that. If you want to make money with affiliate marketing you will need to put in time and effort to make sure you are in the upper 10 percent of the people online that are really making money with affiliate marketing. If your willing to work at it keep reading and you will find some of the keys to earning as an affiliate.
Below are some basic guidelines to increase your affiliate earnings:
1. You need your own website.
By having your own website, you are not just trying to promote an affiliate link, you are promoting your own site, which means that you can get your site ranked in the search engines. Also make sure your site looks professional, people don’t want to go to a site and see 5 links pointing to other sites.
2. Don’t forget to optimize your site, both on-site and off-site
Optimization is key if you want your site to end up with good rankings in the search engines. First each page of your site should target just one product and keyword phrase that you want to rank for. And as for off page optimization that is simply the process of building keyword targeted back links to your new website.
3. Find the right products to promote
Finding the right products and merchants is another thing you will need to worry about. It is not just about how much money you will make with each sale, but you have to look at the product and figure out if it is a product that someone is even going to buy. Make sure the merchant is providing a good product or service.
Do your research when it comes to picking the right products, services and merchants, if you take your time and do your research for a good affiliate marketing merchant, it could make the difference between you succeeding and failing.
4. Driving visitors to your new site
Having the ability to drive traffic or visitors to your website is probably the biggest key to your affiliate marketing success. Without a steady stream of visitors to your site you are not going to be making any money and you will quit before you really start earning. There are so many ways to drive traffic to your site. Some great ways are with email marketing, article marketing and of course proper search engine optimization.
5. Pre Sell your customers
A great way to make sure that you get the most amount of sales is to pre sell the product to the customer and offer them free gifts if they order today. You can find e books or software all over the Internet to give away to your potential customers. Also explain to the customer how the product that you are promoting can help them solve a problem that they have, even if they don’t know that they have a problem. Also if the person doesn’t buy the first time around, if you offer them incentives and your free gifts are something of value there is a good chance that they will come back and purchase the product at a later date.
Affiliate marketing is not going to make you rich overnight but by using the proper techniques and following the guidelines above, you can be on your way to making money as an affiliate. Lastly, don’t forget to treat your customers like people, and not just a sale, they can tell the difference.
